Intervention1: ESMOLOL: intravenous Esmolol 1.0 mg/kg (diluted to 0.5% solution) as slow bolus injection just after induction for attenuation of pressor response to laryngoscopy and intubation.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: ASA I, II Mallampatti Class I or II Age : 18-60 yrs Weight : 40 â?? 90 kg Elective non-cardiac surgery
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Heart rate Basal systolic BP H/o of asthma, cardiac disease & presence of heart block. ASA PS > II Anticipated difficult intubation Anxious or apprehensive patients Intubation time more than 15 seconds
