Health Condition 1: null- CHRONIC PERIODONTITIS PATIENTS WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES MELLITUS

Interventions

Intervention1: Scaling and root planing and laser biostimulation.: Scaling and root planing to remove deposits from teeth surfaces once. Laser biostimulation for pocket reduction was done at baseline

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients 30 years or more with chronic periodontitis having probing pocket depth >= 5mm. 2. Patients having 20 or more teeth. 3. Physician diagnosed type 2 diabetes of more than 3 months duration. 4. Currently under the care of a physician for diabetes management. 5. No change in diabetes related medications during 3 months prior to enrollment. 6. Screening HbA1c values within the range of 6% to 7%. 7. No definitive periodontal treatment during 6 months prior to enrollment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients suffering from any known systemic disease other than diabetes like renal disorders, anemia, hyperthyroidism, etc. 2.Patients who had a physician visit within the last 30 days because of hyperglycemia or diabetes related complications. 3.Chronic or continuous use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs within the preceeding two months. 4. Patients under systemic antibiotics, corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs. 5. Pregnant women or lactating women. 6.Subjects who are smokers, tobacco or alcohol users.
