Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All adult patients (>= 18 years) being posted for major surgeries (clean surgeries such as hernia repair, cesarean section for cephalo-pelvic disproportion, tubectomy) performed in departments of general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology would be included in the study after obtaining well informed written consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient posted for emergency surgeries and patients declining to give informed consent would be excluded from the study. Patients with pre- existing infections, anemia, diabetes and immunosupressed patients shall also be excluded.

Proportion of surgeries for which drugs/antimicrobials for prophylaxis of surgical site infection are administered and drugs/antimicrobials that are used for prophylaxis of surgical site infection. Timepoint: One year Six months

Collate the use of drugs/antimicrobials for prophylaxis of surgical site infection in our set up with hospital antibiotic policy.Timepoint: One year Six months
