Intervention1: baseline unstimulated saliva and clinical parameters before the treatment: The demographic characteristics of the patients (age and sex), clinical parameters will be recorded initially

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Subjects aged 40-50 yrs Subjects with a minimum complement of 20 teeth Subjects will have to possess at least two non-adjacent sites on non-incisor / first molar teeth with probing pocket depths (PPDs) of >= 5 mm, that bleed upon probing (from the pocket base) and which demonstrates radiographic bone loss of >= 30% Subjects who will be indicated for flap surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects with any systemic disease Subjects who have undergone any periodontal treatment in the last six months Subjects who have received antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs or steroids in the past three months Pregnant or lactating women Subjects who are tobacco or alcohol users Subjects who have taken Vitamin or mineral supplements or Anti-oxidants for the past three months
