Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • ASA Class I and II • Elective spine surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Unwilling or not giving consent for study • Difficulties in communication • Extubation more than 2 hours after end of surgery • Patients diagnosed pre-operatively with chronic pain syndromes

MeasureTime frame
To compare the differences in post-operative pain severity, duration and analgesic requirements with Isoflurane- and Sevoflurane- based anesthetic regimens in patients undergoing elective spine surgeryTimepoint: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 24, 48 and 72 hours after extubation

- To evaluate if there is any difference in pain severity between genders - To evaluate differences in severity of pain with different surgical procedures - To correlate duration of exposure to anaesthetic agent and severity of postoperative pain - To note the time to first independent mobility from bed - To note the time to first feeding - To note the time to feeling completely pain-free - To assess the severity of pain at the time of discharge from hospitalTimepoint: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 24, 48 and 72 hours after extubation
