Interventions

Intervention1: Calcium Dobesilate: 500 mg orally three times daily for 12 weeks Control Intervention1: Placebo Tablet: Orally three times daily for 12 weeks.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Previous intra-ocular surgery, 2.Ocular trauma, 3.Ocular inflammation, 4.Glaucoma, 5.Laser photocoagulation within past 4 wks 6.Systemic inflammation 7.Corticosteroids within past 4 wks 8.Pregnancy (first trimester) / lactation 9.Severe renal/ liver impairment 10.Hematological disease 11.Vitamin / mineral supplements (including herbal drugs) within past 4 wks 12.Malignancies or history of chemotherapy or radiotherapy within past 1 year. 13. Recipients of bone marrow or organ transplant
