Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 status patients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Inability to consent for the study Anticipated difficult intubation or ventilation Pregnancy BMI >28 Neurosurgery Nasal lesions, patient with active nasaopharyngeal infection. Spatula test will be done to rule out nasal obstruction. Chronic respiratory diseases. Uncontrolled hypertension, congestive heart failure Elevated intracranial pressure SpO Smokers • WITHDRAWL CRITERIA - Cormack and Lehane grade 3 or grade 4 view on laryngoscopy, Unanticipated difficult ventilation

MeasureTime frame
The primary objective of the study was the measurement and comparison of safe apnea time. The mean apnea time for group A was 5.95 minutes with standard deviation of 0.29 minutes i.e. 17.4 seconds and that for group B was 5.94 minutes with standard deviation of 0.32 minutes i.e. 18.2 seconds. The p value was calculated using student t test which was 0.95, being more than 0.05, the value is not statistically significant.Timepoint: Apnea time

As only one patient in each group desaturated, the resaturation time noted didnâ??t show significant difference. Resaturation time measurement was the secondary objective of the study.Timepoint: Resaturation time
