To study if vitamin D supplementation in vitamin D deficient patients of rheumatoid arthritis impproves vascular function in them. Vascular function predicts risk of cardiovascular diseases in them and will be measured by flow mediated dilation of brachial artery.

Conditions

Health Condition 1: null- Patients of rheumatoid arthritis, those who are either in remission or have low disease activity and are vitamin D deficient shall be recruited for the study

Interventions

Intervention1: Vitamin D3(Cholecalciferol) 300,000 IU: Tablet Vitamin D3 300,000 IU will be given to vitamin D deficient patients, orally at week 16 and 24 of the study Control Intervention1: No treat

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age more than 18 years and up to 70 years 2. Vitamin D deficient [serum 25(OH) D levels

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with high disease activity as defined by CDAI >22. 2. Patients with Diabetes mellitus. 3. Presence of Heart failure[NYHA Class 3 and 4] 4. Recent adverse CVD events[CAD/ACS/CVA within 1 month] 5. Subjects with known malignancies 6. Active smokers 7. Patients with hypercalcemia [>=10.5 mg/dL] 8. Patients who have taken vitamin D in therapeutic doses within 30 days of start of study period.
