Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: β-Blocker-Metoprolol, treated hypertensive ESRD patients on dialysis(hemodialysis) with uncontrolled hypertension would be recruited at the Department of Nephrology. Uncontrolled hypertension would be defined as seated office systolic and/or diastolic BP >=140/90 mm Hg calculated from the average of the second and the third readings of 3 consecutive measurements.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients with severe hypertension (BP >=180/110 mm Hg), atrial fibrillation, or contraindications for β-blocker use. 2) Patients with chronic liver disease.
