Intervention1: Interscalene brachial plexus block: Anaesthesia was induced with intravenous fentanyl 2mcg/kg and titrated dose of propofol. Neuromuscular blockade was achieved with 0.1mg/kg vecuroni

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18-60 years of either gender scheduled for elective arthroscopic reconstructive shoulder surgery with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I and II were included in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients not willing for participation 2. Patients with baseline heart rate of 3. Patients on beta blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors 4. Patients with known allergy to drugs used in the trial 5. Patients with contraindication for brachial plexus block 6. Patients with difficulty in communication

1. Intraoperative haemodynamic stability in terms of blood pressure and heart rate 2. Operating condition as assessed by the surgeon 3. Recovery time 4. Postoperative analgesia 5. Patient satisfaction Timepoint: 1. Haemodynamics-intraoperative period every 5 minutes. 2. Operating condition- immediately at the end of surgery. 3. Recovery time- At the end of surgery (Time taken for the patient to obey commands from a MAC of 0.6 4. Postoperative analgesia- in the immediate postoperative period 5. Patient satisfaction- 24 hours after the surgery.
