Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.All consenting male patients ASA I, II and III. 2.Age group of 35-70 years. 3.Patients who receive spinal anesthesia (SA) as anaesthetic management for the procedure 4.Monopolar TURP using glycine and bipolar TURP using NS as irrigation fluid.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Non willing patients. 2.Coagulopathies and systemic diseases. 3.Contraindications for spinal anesthesia such as patient refusal, cardiovascular instability, spinal deformities, previous spinal surgeries etc. 4.Patients allergic to local anesthetic agents such as bupivacaine and/ or opioids such as fentanyl. 5.Prostatic tissue less than 30cc. 6.Irrigation fluid used is 7.Patients suffering from preoperative acid base abnormalities.

To compare the usage of bipolar cautery using normal saline as an irrigant with conventional monopolar cautery using glycine as an irrigant regarding the acid base and hemodynamic changes in TURP surgery.Timepoint: April 2019

To compare the changes in hemodynamic data (Systolic Blood Pressure [SBP], Diastolic Blood Pressure [DBP], Mean Blood Pressure [MBP] and Heart Rate [HR]. Timepoint: April 2019
