Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients with symptomatic thyroid disease who were candidates for thyroidectomy
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients having any of the following: 1. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical class III or IV. 2. Age more than 75 years. 3. Pregnancy. 4. Intake of corticosteroids within past 4 weeks 5. Coagulation disorders. 6. Cushing disease. 7. Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. 8. Severe hepatic impairment. 9. Renal impairment. 10. Systemic Tuberculosis. 11. Osteoporosis. 12. Immunocompromised states. 13. Pre- existing wide angle glaucoma 14. Severe systemic bacterial, viral or fungal infections. 15. Patients with preoperative deranged cell counts, C reactive protein levels or cytokine profile
