Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. All cases of thrombocytopenia with platelet count below 1,50,000/cu mm with or without bone marrow studies. 2. The cases with sufficient clinico-haematological work up with established clinical diagnosis will be included. 3. Only one sample of the single participant will be taken.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pseudothrombocytopenia 2. Patients who have received blood transfusion or platelet transfusion within 7 days

MeasureTime frame
The cases will be broadly classified into two groups on the basis of cause of thrombocytopenia- due to peripheral hyperdestruction(immune thrombocytopenic purpura; infection like malaria, dengue; drug induced, etc.) and hypoproliferative bone marrow (megaloblastic anaemia; leukaemia; aplastic anaemia; myelodysplastic syndrome; myelofibrosis; multiple myeloma; marrow infilteration).Timepoint: 30th April 2018
