Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.patients suffering with a mental disorder as per ICD-10 and necessitating ECT as per clinical decision of consultant psychiatrist. 2.American Society of Anaesthesiology (ASA) physical status I-II. 3.Body Mass Index(BMI) >18.5kg/m2 and < 25kg/m2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.history of relevant drug allergy 2.severe cardiovascular,respiratory, metabolic or neurological disease. 3.comorbid ICD-10 diagnosis of substance-harmful use or substance dependance(FIX.1 or FIX.2, except FIX.20) 4.severe coagulopathy 5.pregnancy 6.refusal by both the patient and his/her relative.

To study hemodynamic changes during Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy using Etomidate with and without Fentanyl as inducing agent. To study the effect of Etomidate with and without Fentanyl on motor and EEG seizure duration during modified electroconvulsive therapy.Timepoint: Before induction, After administration of study drug, During seizure and after 1,3,5 and 10 minutes after seizure.—
