Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA I-II patients posted for elective laparotomy lasting for more than 90 minutes

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patient refusal to participate 2.Pregnant patients 3.Laparoscopic surgery 4.BMI more than or equal to 35 kg/m2 5.Patients already in ICU 6.Conditions precluding use of neuraxial anaesthesia 7.Anaesthesia workstation with more than acceptable leak

Calculate ml/hour and cost/hour of anaesthetic with each of the following combinations: 1.Desflurane in combination with N2O, O2 : FGF of 500 ml/min, End-Tidal concentration 5-6%. 2.Desflurane in combination with Air, O2: FGF of 500 ml/min, End-Tidal concentration 5-6%. 3.Isoflurane with Air, O2 with FGF 1 l/min, End-Tidal concentration 1%.
