Conditions

Health Condition 1: null- Mixed patient population of ICU (excluding COPD patients) who have been on mechanical ventilation for more than 48 hours and have undergone elective extubation following the ICU weaning protocol

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who are put on invasive mechanical ventilation for a period more than 48 hours and are undergoing elective extubation following a fixed ICU weaning protocol. Patients more than 18 years of age

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: COPD patients Contraindication to use of non invasive ventilation Younger than 18 years of age Pregnant patients Refusal to enroll in study
