Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| PCR of all the severe non-severe samples identified microscopically to validate for the presence of single (either P falciparum or P vivax) as well as multiple (both P falciparum and P vivax) parasite species infectionsTimepoint: Single time | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Genomic analyses (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms and genotyping assays) of pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines acute phase genes and sequestration factor Correlation of the SNPs identified in the host inflammatory (HI) genes (exons) as well as the promoter regions with disease severity Whether these host inflammatory genes can be potential prognostic biomarkers for malaria testing?
