Interventions

Intervention1: Yoga: 1 Hour daily for 10 days Control Intervention1: Care as Usual: Standard hospital treatment for 4 weeks of follow-up

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Diagnosis of OCD according to DSM-5 criteria and confirmed independently by a qualified psychiatrist. 2.Between 18 to 60 years of age. 3.On stable dosage of medications for 6 weeks prior to start of study. 4.Patients able to understand Kannada or English language. 5.Minimum score of 16 on Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Co-morbid substance abuse (excluding nicotine dependence), psychosis, suicidal and self-injurious behavior, mental retardation. 2.Subjects with severe physical ailments like general medical conditions like coronary artery disease, fracture, active seizure disorders, auto-immune disorders or major infectious disease. 3.Pregnant, lactating or post-partum women. 4.Ongoing current practice of yoga or any other mind-body techniques (e.g., meditation, Tai-Chi, or related practices) of more than 45 minutes per week on average within the last 6 months or total estimated cumulative prior lifetime practice of more than 100 hours. 5.Having more than 2 sessions per week of CBT. 6.Those refusing consent.
