Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult outpatients of a rural primary health centre (JIRHC, Ramanathapuram) who are alcohol users and scored less than 20 in Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT). Those outpatients whose AUDIT score is 20 or more will not be included as the diagnosis of alcohol dependence is highly probable.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Those outpatients who do not belong to rural field practice area (four villages) of JIPMER will be excluded in view of difficulty in tracking them for assessing study outcomes.
