Intervention1: ketamine gargle: 50 mg diluted to 30 ml given for 30 seconds Control Intervention1: ketamine nebulisation: 50 mg ketamine diluted to 5 ml given for 15 minutes

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. ASA physical status 1 and 2. 2. Patients undergoing ear surgeries under general anaesthesia. 3. Patients aged 18-60 years of either sex 4. Surgeries lasting more than one hour.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pre-operative sore throat 2. Mallampatti class >2 3. Allergy to the study drug 4. Recent history of NSAID medication 5. Smokers 6. Asthmatics and patients with COPD.
