Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) All patients of age 60 years and above 2) With a diagnosis of advanced cancer referred to Dept of Palliative Medicine at TMH 3) Patients who are able to give informed consent to participate in the study 4) Patients with an ECOG 3 or less than 3 5) Patients communicating in Hindi, Marathi, English

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients with acute medical illnesses needing intensive inpatient care 2) Debility due to poorly controlled comorbid illness

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1) To identify the total number of patients with palliative care needs in each of the eight domains of the tool and identify factors predictive of poor outcomeTimepoint: One time point: at recruitment and after informed consent

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
2) The percentage of patients who were able to complete the measure and length of time taken to complete the measure 3) The percentage of patients who did not enter the study (determined by the number of patientâ??s asked to participate and the number of patients who declined and the reasons why) 4) Patient and clinician satisfaction with the questionnaire 5) Identifying items if any that were distressing/difficult for the patient Timepoint: 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months
