Interventions

Intervention1: oral calcium: oral calcium in a dose 100 mg/kg/day of elemental calcium divided 6 hourly Control Intervention1: Intra-Venous Calcium: 10% calcium gluconate IV in a dose of 2 mL/kg/dose

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age 1 month to 5 years. 2.First episode of generalized or focal seizures 3.Serum total calcium

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Associated systemic illness 2.History of epilepsy, febrile seizures 3.History suggestive of any underlying acute or chronic CNS illness 4.History of chronic systemic disorder (e.g., chronic renal disease, chronic liver disease) •Not regained consciousness even after 2 hours of initial seizures
