Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Stable CKD stage 4 and 5 pre HD patients with iron deficiency anemia as per KDIGO guidelines {iron saturation (serum iron/total iron binding capacity) less than 20% or serum ferritin less than 200ng/L

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with 1. Active / recent infection in the last two weeks 2. Oral or IV iron, blood transfusions received in the last two weeks. 3. Malignancy, liver disease, pregnancy, hypersensitivity to IV iron

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Outcome measures: The outcome studied were the effect of iron therapy on change in CRP and Malondialdehyde between the groups.Timepoint: The levels of CRP and Malondialdehyde will be done 1 hour prior to dose and 72 hour after the treatment

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary outcomes studied were adverse events and response to therapy. Timepoint: at the end of 30 days
