Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: A total of fifty patients between 18-72 years of age, of either sex belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I, II or III undergoing elective thoracotomy will be recruited in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient with infection at the site of injection 2. Coagulopathy 3. Spine deformity 4. Drug addicts or history of opioid dependence 5. Patients on chronic analgesic therapy 6. Patients with history of allergy to opioids or local anaesthetics 7. Patients with liver disease, cardiac disease or renal failure 8. Patients requiring postoperative mechanical ventilation 9. Patients receiving anticoagulation or any bleeding disorder 10. Patient refusal 11. Age 72 years 12. ASA IV/V 13. Psychiatric illness 14. Pregnant patients 15. Patients unable to comprehend NRS and Patient controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) 16. Emergency surgery
