Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals presenting with unilateral or bilateral impacted mandibular third molars

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of trauma or surgery to the mandible 2. Developmental anomalies affecting the jaw 3. Clinical and/or radiographic evidences of pathologies of the impacted mandibular third molar teeth or mandible which could obscure the visualization of the periapical region or inferior alveolar canal

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.Interruption of the radiopaque border of the canal on OPG 2.Darkening of the root on OPG 3.Presence or absence of cortication between the tooth root and canal on CBCT Timepoint: 14/12/16 to 31/12/17

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Developing roots on OPG 2. Diversion of canal on OPG 3. Deflection of the root by the canal on OPG 4. The bifid apex on OPG 5. Narrowing of diameter of the canal on OPG 6. Narrowing of the root on OPG 7. Interruption of the alveolar lamina dura and periodontal space on OPG 8. Buccal, lingual and inter-radicular position of mandibular canal on CBCT 9. Cortical plate perforation on CBCT Timepoint: 31/12/17
