Control Intervention1: Dexmedetomidine and Nitroglycerine: 1)Inj Dexmedetomidine loading dose 1 mcg/kg over a period of 10 minutes before induction followed by maintenance infusion of 0.4-0.8mcg/kg/

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)Age group 18-60 years 2)ASA status I & II 3)Patients posted for elective FESS surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Recurrent sinus surgery 1)Hypertension 2)Coronary heart disease 3)Renal insufficiency 4)Hepatic insufficiency 5)Cerebral insufficiency 6)Coagulopathy 7)Patients with heart block 8)H/O allergy to the study drug used 9)Patients on ACE inhibitors, α-2 adrenergic receptors antagonists, Calcium channel blockers,beta blockers

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1)To achieve optimum surgical field 2)To measure the amount of blood loss. Timepoint: Intraoperatively at 30 minutes interval quality of surgical field was assessed. Total amount of blood loss was calculated at the end of surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1)To monitor pulse rate Mean arterial pressure arterial oxygen saturation and end tidal CO2 intraoperatively. 2)To monitor the time of reversibility of the hypotensive state 3)To observe for any complications. â?? Timepoint: Patients were monitored at 15 minute time interval for pulse rate mean arterial blood pressure arterial oxygen saturation and end tidal CO2. After the stoppage of infusion Patients were monitored at 2 minute time interval for vital parameters especially mean arterial pressure & heart rate for assessing the time to reversibility of hypotensive state. They were also monitored for postoperative complications up to two hours postoperatively.
