Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Phase 1: Cross-sectional Study Inclusion criteria: Homemakers above 30yrs age residing in field practice area, diagnosed with hypertension and on anti-hypertensive medications since > 1 year. Phase 2: Interventional Study Inclusion criteria for intervention arm: Willing to participate in yoga program for 6 months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Phase 1 Intervention study Exclusion criteria: a. Women with any documented psychological disorders and on medication. b. Pregnant or lactating women. Phase 2 Interventional study Exclusion criteria for Intervention arm a.Those currently practicing yoga or any other form of stress reduction techniques for a month or more. b.Women with knee pain and unable to sit down on the floor for 30 mins. c.Suffering from any documented complication of hypertension or diabetes mellitus. d.Pregnant, lactating women, bronchial asthma patients. e.BMI > 30 Kg/m2
