Intervention1: Group 1: Prednisolone will given at a dose of 2 mg/kg/day until urine protein is trace or nil for three consecutive days followed by alternate day prednisolone 1.0 mg/kg as single morni

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All children and adolescents who are known cases of steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome (infrequent relapsers, frequent relapsers, steroid dependent who have received alternate agents in the past) presenting with a relapse.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Children and adolescents with serious infections(sepsis, meningitis, peritonitis) • Children and adolescent swith steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome • Children and adolescents receiving stress doses of steroids

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Effectiveness of low dose prednisolone regimen and standard therapy in maintaining remission at the end of therapy Timepoint: 2 weeks, 4 weeks after initiating therapy and then every month for next 3 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
â?¢ Mean Time to remission in each group â?¢ Steroid doses received in past 6 months â?¢ Relapse at 1 month and 3month follow up Timepoint: 2 weeks, 4 weeks after initiating therapy and then every month for next 3 months.
