Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: for patients: 1.Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia (F20) according to ICD-10 Diagnostic Criteria for Research (DCR) 2.Age between 18-60 years 3.Giving written informed consent for first degree relatives 1.First Degree Relatives (FDR) of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia (F20) according to ICD-10 Diagnostic Criteria for Research (DCR), and not having psychiatric illness as screened by MINI-Plus 2.Age between 18-60 years 3.Giving written informed consent For controls: 1.Subjects without any psychiatric diagnosis as screened by MINI-Plus 2.Age between 18-60 years 3.Giving written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: for patients, 1.Weight >150 Kgs, Diabetes mellitus type 1 or 2 or Triglycerides (TG) >600 mg/dl 2.History of myocardial infarction or unstable angina within the past six-months, history of HIV or AIDS, collagen vascular disease 3.Co-morbid active ICD-10 DCR substance dependence except nicotine, within the past 3 months for first degree relatives: 1.Weight >150 Kgs, Diabetes mellitus type 1 or 2, Triglycerides (TG) >600 mg/dl 2.History of myocardial infarction or unstable angina within the past six-months, history of HIV or AIDS, collagen vascular disease 3.Active ICD-10 DCR substance dependence except nicotine, within the past 3 months for controls: 1.Weight >150 Kgs, Diabetes mellitus type 1 or 2, Triglycerides (TG) >600 mg/dl 2.History of myocardial infarction or unstable angina within the past six-months, history of HIV or AIDS, collagen vascular disease
