Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.BMI >=23 kg/m2 2.Central obesity 3.Dyslipidemia-low HDL and (or) high TGL

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Self reported diabetes 2.History of allergy to nuts 3.Use of nutritional supplements 4.Bad dentures 5.Weight loss diets 6.Pregnant/lactating women •Liver, kidney, thyroid, or other endocrine diseases •Any condition that hinders compliance to the intervention. •Possible eating disorder

MeasureTime frame
To determine the effects of almond supplementation on insulin resistance (HOMA IR) and beta cell dysfunction assessed by oral disposition index (DIo), C-peptide estimation and adiposity.Timepoint: 3 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To study the effect on the biomarkers of glucose metabolism (i.e., fasting glucose, and hemoglobin A1c), lipid profile (i.e., triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and HDL-cholesterol), plasma fatty acid profile, satiety related gut hormones using multiplex panel (GLP-1, GIP, PYY and ghrelin) adiponectin and selected inflammatory markers (i.e., hs-CRP, TNF-α, MCP-1).Timepoint: 3 months
