Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Research participants were recruited from outpatient section of Department of Periodontology Rajarajeswari Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore, Karnataka, India from January 2016 to July 2016. A total of 90 participants (50 males and 40 females; age ranging from 19 to 50 years, mean age 31.50±7.8) were categorized into three groups as healthy participants, generalized chronic periodontitis patients and generalized aggressive periodontitis patients. Sample size was determined based on power analysis at a confidence interval of 95% (p <0.05).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants were excluded from the study if they were diabetic, smokers, systemically ill or pregnant having potential to alter the course of periodontal disease.
