Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: gestational age more than 36 weeks,undergoing major neonatal surgery like tracheoesophageal fistula repair,congenital diaphragmatic hernia repair,laparotomy,MMC repair,ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion etc

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: low birth weight( <2kg),large for gestational age,small for gestational age,sepsis,first two days of life,blood sugar level < 65 mg/dl prior to induction of anaesthesia,neonates requiring inotropic support intraoperatively.
