Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Histologically confirmed head & neck cancer patients above 18 years coming to ENT OPD who require radiotherapy (IMRT or Conventional Radiotherapy)

MeasureTime frame
The majority of patients in study population were of age group 50 to 70 years of age and there was a male preponderance in the study population. Salivary flow rate and pH showed a gradual decrease as age advances whereas amylase activity showed a non-significant increase. There was no sex predilection associated with baseline SFR, pH and amylase activity. Timepoint: Two years

MeasureTime frame
It was observed that there was a significant decrease in salivary flow rate (P less than 0.001), pH (P less than 0.001) and amylase (P less than 0.001) following 6 weeks of conventional radiotherapy. A non-significant change in SFR (P less than 0.078) and significant reduction in pH (P less than 0.03) and amylase (P equal to 0.001) was observed following 6 weeks of IMRT. Timepoint: Two years
