Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients aged more than 18 yrs. 2.PD patients based on history & Neurological examination. 3.PPS (PSP& MSA) patients. 4.Any stage of Parkinsonâ??s Disease patients. 5.Inclusion of healthy volunteers as controls.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.PD patients with severe comorbidities. 2.PD patients with Acromegaly / Gigantism. 3.Patients with protein malnutrition. 4.Control subjects with the following parameters are excluded. a.Neurological disorders b.Psychiatric disorders c.Dementia d.Diabetes mellitus e.Thyroid disease f.Obesity / BMI >= 30

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.To study whether serum IGF-1 levels can differentiate Parkinsonâ??s disease from Parkinson Plus Syndrome.Timepoint: 6 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To diagnose PD PPS patients based on neurological examination, UPDRS scale and PET scan. 2.To evaluate the association between levels of serum IGF-1 in Parkinsonâ??s disease, Parkinson Plus Syndrome & healthy volunteers. 3.To study the correlation of levels of IGF-1 with disease severity in Parkinsonâ??s disease patients. 4.To estimate serum Uric acid in Parkinsonâ??s disease patients, Parkinson Plus Syndrome patients and healthy volunteers Timepoint: 6 months
