Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Group I Periodontally healthy subjects with no signs of periodontal disease. Group II Current Smokers with untreated moderate to severe chronic periodontitis Group III Nonsmokers with untreated moderate to severe chronic periodontitis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with self reported psychiatric disorders or psychotic medications. 2.Patients with any systemic disease. 3.Pregnant and post menopausal women. 4.Patients with history of antibiotic intake within 6 weeks. 5.Patients undergoing corticosteroids or immunosuppresive therapy. 6.Patients with acute illness.
