Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Has at least one primary caregiver a blood relative or A person whom client stays with more than a year and who is willing to participate 2. Has ICD 10 diagnosis of bipolar affective disorder.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients enrolled for any other psychological therapy 2. Primary care giver with mental illness 3. Patient has co-morbid major mental illness (alcohol dependence /other psychiatric diagnosis).

The study is expected to assess the effect of FFNI on functional improvement of clients with bipolar affective disorder using LIFE-RIFT (Longitudinal Interval Follow-up Evaluation-Range of Impaired Functioning Tool) and FAST (Functional Assessment Short Test) .Timepoint: at admission, at discharge, one month, 2nd month followup.
