Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All patients >18 years undergoing elective colorectal surgery under general anaesthesia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Minor colorectal procedures including polypectomy where the expected duration of surgery is less than one hour 2.Recent h/o fever, patient with known immunological dysfunction (on steroids, decompensated liver disease, HIV,) 3.Evidence of infection (TLC 12000) 4.Emergency colorectal surgeries done for bowel obstruction 5.Severe malnutrition (albumin 6.Significant co-morbidities- unfit for G A. 7.Respiratory illness- COPD, asthma
