Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing elective open heart surgery i.e. Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Valve surgeries (Valve replacement or repair), referred for physiotherapy preoperatively as well as post operatively and hemodynamically stable in consultation with operative cardiac surgeon and intensivist.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pre or postoperative patients who have unstable angina or severe chest pain, Severe Aortic Stenosis, Ejection Fraction < 30%, Left main coronary artery involvement, suffered from old stroke, severe endocarditis recently diagnosed, renal dysfunction requiring dialysis during or after admission, any severe musculosketal condition affecting walking specially knee joint pain and any psychiatric problems or non cooperative for the study.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Maximum Inspiratory Pressure (MIP)Timepoint: Maximum Inspiratory Pressure (MIP) at the Pre operatively, at the time of discharged and during first follow up in the OPD.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
secondary outcome parameters are functional status (6 minute walk test, Chest Expansion, Incentive spirometer), and Quality of life (EQ 5D), the number of days on ventilator, total ICU stay, any complication following surgery and total hospital stay will be recorded.Timepoint: secondary outcome parameters are functional status (6 minute walk test, Chest Expansion, Incentive spirometer), and Quality of life (EQ 5D), the number of days on ventilator, total ICU stay, any complication following surgery and total hospital stay will be recorded.
