Interventions

Intervention1: inj cefazolin 1gm: 1 gm single pre op dose IV 30 min before skin incision Control Intervention1: inj cefazolin: 1 gm IV pre op 30 min before skin incision followed by 2 doses of 1 gm IV

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 All the patients who will undergo orthopaedic spine(discectomy orlaminectomy) surgery will be included irrespective of age and gender

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Patients who had pre-existing infection. 2 Patients with hypersensitivity to the study drug 3 Patients who had taken antibiotic in the last two weeks prior to surgery 4 If surgery extends beyond 4 hrs or if intra op blood loss > 1500 ml patient will be excluded from study
