Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: patients of either sex, age more than 18 years posted for elective or emergency surgery or admitted in ICU requiring central venous catheterization.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patientâ??s refusal 2. Infection at the catheterisation site 3. Coagulation abnormality 4. Cardiac rhythm or conduction disorder 5. Patients with a pacemaker in situ 6. Anatomical deformities of the neck or chest 7. Pneumothorax 8. Trauma to clavicle and upper ribs or cervical spine trauma 9. Any pathology leading to tracheal deviation 10. Pregnant patients
