Intervention1: plain aqueous gel: 2ml to be applied on the scope before the procedure Intervention2: lignocaine and xylometazoline pledgets: 4% lignocaine solution + 0.05% xylometazoline (1:1) pledget

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: i. Patients requiring transnasal flexible laryngoscopy ii. age > 18 years iii. ability to complete the post-procedure questionnaire at the end of examination

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: i. any known bleeding disorders ii. pregnancy iii. known allergy to any of the drugs to be used iv. previous nasendoscopic examination- to reduce bias on objective assessment.
