Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1Patients between 11-20 years of age. 2.Patients requiring both upper and lower or lower fixed orthodontic treatment. 3.Moderate (Littleâ??s irregularity index score 4mm to 6mm) to severe crowding (littleâ??s irregularity index score 6mm to 9mm) in mandibular anterior segment. 4.Patients requiring both extraction or non-extraction treatment (except lower anterior extraction). 5.Malocclusion treatment requiring continuous archwire system. 6.Patients with no history of previous orthodontic treatment. 7.All mandibular teeth erupted except second or third molars. 8.No relevant medical history. 9.No analgesics taken prior to procedure. 10.No/mild crowding in the posterior segments.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with a blocked out tooth that will not allow for placement of the bracket at initial bonding appointment. 2. Patients whose treatment plan includes extraction of lower incisor. 3. Patients with missing or extracted lower incisor. 4. No craniofacial syndrome 5. Patients with poor oral hygiene or periodontally compromised teeth 6. A medical condition that precluded the use of a fixed orthodontic appliance (e.g. allergy to nickel, recent history of epileptic seizure or physicianâ??s consent could not be obtained, etc.). 7. Patients with spacing in lower anterior region. 8. Patients with anterior cross bite. 9. Patients having deep bite.
