Health Condition 1: null- MEGALOBLASTIC ANEMIA

Interventions

Intervention1: Oral Vitamin B12 tablets: 1000 ug Vitamin B12 will be given parenterally(IM/IV) on first occasion (within 24 hours of enrollment and consent) followed by oral supplementation of 500 ug

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Suspected megaloblastic anemia in age group of 3 months to 18 years(Pallor, hyper-pigmentation of knuckles & terminal phalanges) clinically with one of the following laboratory criteria. a. Peripheral smear picture : macrocytes, hypersegmented neutrophils and thrombocytopenia b. MVC(Man corpuscular volume) > 110 fl c. Vitamin B12 level d. Dimorphic anemia on peripheral smear e. Infantile tremor syndrome (ITS)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient with Neurological symptoms (except ITS) 2. Patient with proven or strongly suspected pernicious anemia or short boweL syndrome/malabsorption syndrome
