Intervention1: oxygen therapy by single unit venturi valve: oxygen therapy wil be given by single unit venturi valve after gentle insertion of a nasopharyngeal airway into the anaesthetised nasal cavi

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: post operative ASA-1 patients who are planned for lower limb and lower abdominal surgery under regionaL anaesthesia with normal ventilatory pattern

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.smokers 2.obese patients with BMI >25 3.upper respiratory tract infection or history of uri in last 6weeks 4.deviated nasal septum/nasal polyp/any other cause of nsal obstruction 5.bleeding tendencies/past history of epistaxis/family history of bleeding disorders 6.past history of basal skull fracture.

Effective fio2 obtained by the patient with the single unit venturi valve at different settings of air entrainment port with driving oxygen flow rate of 1-15l/min in increments of 1l/minTimepoint: 30 min post-op, every 3 min thereafter for the next 2 hr

Concentration of oxygen output of a single unit venturi valve with driving oxygen flow rate of 1-15L/min in increments of 1L/min 2.Total gas outflow at the patient end of the single-unit venturi valve 3.Behaviour of single unit venit venturi valve in terms of its perforamance as fixed or varible at flows higher or lower than that recommended by the manufacturer.Timepoint: Before using the device on the patient, every 3 min after changing the oxygen flow in increments of 1 L/min
