Conditions

Health Condition 1: null- Patients aged 18 to 60 years undergoing elective craniotomy for Supratentorial tumours. They should belong to ASA class 1/2/3.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients belonging to ASA class 1/2/3 posted for elective craniotomy for Supratentorial brain tumours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with pre existing renal failure( serum creatinine >2) patients with electrolyte disturbances Patients having received previous mannitol therapy

MeasureTime frame
Arterial blood gas analysis primarily to measure pH and chloride levelsTimepoint: 0,2,4,6 hours after commencement of surgery

Plasma osmolality between the two groupsTimepoint: At 0,3,6,9 hours
