Control Intervention1: dexmeditomedine: selective alfa-2 agonist
1 microgram/kg intravenous loading dose over 10 minutes followed by infusion of 0.5 microgram/kg/minute infusion during surgery

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients of either sex belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status grade I and II, aged between 16 to 60 years, scheduled to undergo elective surgery under GA
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient refusal 2. Risk of aspiration, obstructive sleep apnoea, morbid obesity 3. Difficult airway 4. Cardiovascular diseases and hypertension 5. Preoperative hypotension (Mean arterial blood pressure 6. Psychiatric illness 7. Patient on tricyclic antidepressant, clonidine, mono amine oxidase-inhibitor therapy 8. Patient with head injury and increased intracranial pressure 9. Duration of surgery less than one hour 10. Known allergy to study drugs 11. Emergency and laparoscopic surgeries
