Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Hgb A1c greater than 7% 2. active informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. malignant hypertension 2. pregnancy or impending pregnancy 3. lactating mothers 4. diabetic co-morbidity of nephropathy, coronary artery disease, thyroid disease, past history of cancer 5. surgery in the past 6 months
