Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)Willingness 2)Age > 18 and 3)American society of anaesthesiology I- II 4)Elective surgery under anaesthesia( general / regional) 5)No neurological deficit and GCS 15/15 6)Mini Mental State Score > 23 7)Diagnosed diabetic ( on / off medication) 8)Literate 9)Post operative hospital stay > 7 days

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Surgery in the recent past 2)Exposure to anaesthesia in the recent past 3)Previous cardiac or neurosurgical procedures 4)h/o drug abuse, psychiatric treatment 5)Previous neuro-psychometric testing 6)Speech, sensory and auditory dysfunction

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the incidence of early POCD (7 days) among diabetics in comparison to non- diabetics. Timepoint: 7 days

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the association of HbA1c level to the occurrence of early POCD.Timepoint: 7 days
