Health Condition 1: null- patients with traumatic injury admitted to the ICU at the JPNATC will be prospectively included in the study. Age more than 16yrs and survival for atleast 12 hours.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: all patients with traumatic injury admitted to the ICU at the JPNATC will be prospectively included in the study. Inclusion criteria will be survival for at least 12 hours. PCT will be monitored on day 1, 3 and 7 after trauma. The data collected during admission will be age, gender, type of accident (road traffic accident, bike accident, fall, and assault), chronic conditions if any, GCS, severity of trauma according to ISS, the SAPS II ( simplified acute physiology II) score and number of blood transfused within first 24 hours after trauma.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Multiple trauma patients without head injury and infants, children aged less than 16 years, patients with history of malignancy, previous or presently having sepsis or in state of septic shock.
