Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children between 1 month and 18 years hospitalized for various medical disorders requiring maintenance intravenous fluids for at least 24 hr.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: i) Electrolyte disturbances: hyponatremia (Serum Sodium 150 meq/L) ii) Severe malnutrition iii) Congestive heart failure iv) Diabetic ketoacidosis v) Acute renal failure vi) nephrotic syndrome vii)Malignancies with hyperleucocytosis / tumor lysis syndrome.
